Traction Engine (Forestry Equipment)

Traction Engine

The Traction Engine were the predecessor to today’s modern farm tractor, once used during the late 18th century. It is a self-propelled steam engine used to move heavy loads in forests, roads, plough ground or to provide power at a chosen location. They were also used as a transportable power source.
